i am glad u replied to my message..however my mama passed away last january 9. I was told that her lung nodules got worse.. and that she already had blood in her lungs.. my mama fought cancer and i believed she had beaten cancer..i told her the Lord is now claiming her because her body would not respond to meds but she is so responsive still. I am so devastated but i am thankful that throiugh the time my mama was battling cancer she was pain free.. most of it though for almost four years...  i am so blessed to have fought this journey with her.. she is an epitome of a heart strong woman...i love her so much.. it hurts :(

I am soooooo sorry for your loss. Like you, I took comfort knowing my sister and dad are in heaven and their cancer died with their bodies. As with any time you lose a loved one, the first year is the toughest. It gets easier to deal with your loss each day. I still think of my mom, sister, grandma, and dad everyday but fortunately it doesn't hurt anymore. God bless.

yes..im so broekn..i took care of my mom when she was battling cancer.. as a teacher i have helped also students, parents by sharing my mom's experiences..we have searched through different herbs and alternative medicines.. she dropped all her meds (except for her hypertension) and she was able to live an almost painfree life.. we kept the herbs that were effective and still continues to search for other options.. only after my father died, she felt weak again..sort of depreesing feeling and she lost her appetite for eating..at least another thing that comforts us is knowing that they are togetehr forever in paradise. :)

I will start Cisplatin on February 1st round. I will also start my 1st round of radiation at the same time. The Cisplatin will be 3 doses and the radiation will be 35 doses all over a 7 week period. They deleted the 12 days of 5FU after we decided to have the modified Radical Neck Dissection and the Tonsillectomy with the extra margin. I'm so ready for this to be done. I have already turned down 3 remodeling projects. I am afraid to enter into contracts when I can finish the projects.

A feeding tube is easy to mount and easy to remove. If you have mucositis and your mouth is too sore to eat, the feeding tube is a blessing.

Well, I spent 4 days in the hospital to kicking off the Cisplatin regime and radiation. We couldn't start on the 1st after all because my port developed a one way valve so a dye study was done, then it was decided I needed another CAT scan. That revealed possible growth of the primary tumor and a possible small lymph node involvement by my left parotid salivary gland. :-(  Also the say two swollen lymph nodes by my colon. So I got a colonoscopy. Thank God, no colon cancer! Anyway by the time we were done, chemotherapy started the February 2nd and radiation started February 4th. Now I will get a new PET scan on the 9th. Fingers crossed!

Anyway,  Cisplatin sucks, my tummy is still upset even with alternating between Zofran 8mg and Compazine 10mg. And a drug called Reglan to get things moving. I am not only sickly,  but anxious feeling. How long does the Cisplatin nausea last? Uhg!

Dear driead, so sorry to hear all you have gone through....and yes, thank God, no colon cancer. In addition to weekly chemo, my husband had weekly intravenous fluids where he was given antivert (sp?) to help relax him, fluids for nausea and hydration....while he also took zofran and compazine orally. His chemo was on Tuesdays and his extra fluids were administered on Fridays. The Friday fluids helped tremendously with the nausea. Let your doctor know if the pills aren't working...they may be able to tweak dosage...ask about the extra fluids. Praying the Lord give you strength each day! You WILL make it!
