Microscopic metastasis outside of prostate was presumed due to rising PSA.  It was too small to detect.  Why did it metastize? Unknown.  However, one possiblity in my mind is that the biopsy might cause some cancer cells to enter bloodstream.  Once it gets out of the prostate it can go anywhere.  Even now it is microscopic, too small to detect, six years after rad therapy.  Location is not known but I believe in the miracle of the human body immune system to hunt it out and kill it wherever it may be, in conjunction with the hormone therapy.

That possibility sounds very reasonable. I will be praying for the miracle of the human body immune system to do just that, tomatoman.

I just got my latest PSA checkup results.  "Undetectable".  So the Lupron/bicalutimide (and tomato soup+) is working well. What a relief!

Consider HIFU as an alternative. Similar cancer outcomes but much fewer side effects.
