Where to inject Octreotide LAR

I have been having monthly shots of Octreotide 30 mg time release, but I'm very skinny and practically have no "butt." I think this injection site, along with my skininess, is affecting the nerves in that area. Is there anywhere else, like the thigh, where I could receive the injections?

76 year old white male:

I have been self injecting Lanreotide in the stomache area for about a year.  I was on octreotide before that which was injected by a shot doctor.  I have read that the Lanreotide should only be injected in the rear end but my doctor said that the stomache was all right.  I have not had any adverse actions and really enjoy not having to go the Hospital for the injections.  I did have to toughen up to self inject but it is possible.  For me the Lanreotide LAR seems to work better than the Octreotide LAR.Have a good year and live one day at a time.

Thanks for your comments. I self inject Sandostatin in the stomach toward the end of the month, when I feel like my time release isn't working as well as the beginning of the month. I might need to go on another type of octreotide.
