Rectal Cancer, If you do no Chemo, radiation?

I just found out I have Rectal Cancer, and they want to do Chemo/Radi then Surgery... uggh.  I hate the sound of Chemo, and what it does to your body. I'm going for PET in 3 days to see what stage it is. I would rather live a few more years, than to live 4 more living with all the setbacks of Chemo and Radiation.

I feel Great, just issues with BM,  what If I did nothing??

Thanks, for any help :)

Hello -- My father is exploring treatment options for Stage II rectal cancer; docs we have spoken with (so far) are recommending chemoradiation, which they say may shrink tumor entirely (w/o need for surgery). I, too, hate the sound of chemo, as he went through that treatment 16 years ago and it almost killed him. He's now 87 years old ... would love to hear about your experience; did you opt out of chemoradiation? I am trying to give my dad the best possible counsel ... I hope your outcome is a good one. Blessings to you.

Hi there...

Well I did 4 months of eating right, baking Soda, you name it, and the CEA levels have gone down. what sucks is the tumor has not shrunk. I started chemo and radiation last week to shrink it. I would have kept up with what i was doing but my tumor is blocking me from going. I just want it to be gone, so we will see.   Hope all goes good, and thanks.

Thank you for your reply -- I hope the treatment goes as smoothly as possible for you. I think we will be facing the same in the next few weeks. Hoping it's a bit easier for my dad this time around.

Best to you --
