Same with my husband; LOVED to eat and cook!!!  He LOVED to try out new dishes every time we went out and would get on me for ALWAYS eating the same thing ;) – I miss those days. He won’t go to a restaurant at all, refuses! We respect that and don’t nag at him. Our most favorite thing to do was to go to Jamaica once a year – he won’t even talk about it anymore. I’ve tried to encourage him that we still could do the other activities we enjoyed but all he says is, “And how are we going to take my food? We’d have to drag cases with us!” His supplier, Coram has a travel program, Great Escapes – I’m sure they would work with us. I haven’t researched it yet though, no need until he is ready.

Our youngest son is 30 today –he and his family will be coming down on this weekend. My hubby insists on grilling him ribs! He won’t go out but he will still cook for his family especially on special days – he’s almost insistent.

I am happy to hear that your hubby still has his voice. Mine does too, thankfully! As you said, it was never guaranteed. He does has a slight slur not from the radiation though, this happened from the neck dissection – he also had to have 2/3 of his tongue removed.  What type of work does your husband do? Mine too uses his voice quite a bit. He is a contractor for the Air Force – many telecoms and meetings.

It has been great chatting with you today. How long have you and your husband been battling this terrible monster? We are not aloneJ

I'm currently with a Mic-key Button, it is coming out for good tomorrow so I'm here just to say that. Anyway I know someone with a PEG tube, I do prefer the PEG, one reason is that it barely comes out and never needs changing as The Mic-key button needs changing every so often and if the gallon pops or the water evaporates you will need to get it changed. So I definitely prefer PEG (but Mic-key is still good :)
