Hello All,

Reading everyone's responses has helped me a lot. This horrible disease is so hard. My father Thomas (67) was diagnosed in March. We tried alt treatment for 3 weeks in Mexico but since then, it has met to his liver. This cancer spreads so fast. I feel like we are doing everything we can but it is becoming increasingly difficult to manage everything. I live in LA and have practically moved to SF to help my sister take care of him. We are basically blending everything because he is having trouble eating. We start FOL Monday and I am extremely nervous. We didn't want to do chemo but if we don't, he will not make it. Things have to change with this disease. Early detection is the key

Karen, we had to switch from abraxane/gemzar to 5-FU. PC19-9 has gone to 24,000. We are very worried. Sound like your husband is doing ok with similar numbers. Were you happy with the 5FU? I don't know what we can do next. Laren

Hi Lauren 5-FU HAS BEEN SOME WHAT A ROLLER COASTER, each treatment is different. Robert has had 10 treatments of this, will be doing a CT SCAN SOON. His bloodwork is good, maintaining weight, tried but still working 5 days week without treatment, 3 days week of treatment. I pray and hope we get good results when CT IS DONE, as gor the ca19-9 number many factors effect that I pray your husband continues to fight and dode well with new treatment When was his ladt CT DONE? Karen

Hi, Karen, Actually, I am the husband. My wife has PC. We are waiting till after Christmas because oncologist doesn't think we'll have a trend until then. My wife is extremely fatigued and I am still very worried. The last CA19-9 dropped to 15,000, which is progress. We'll see what next week brings.

Hello!

Short update on my husband. He is now nearly 40 months post diagnosis stage 4. His last scan in November showed progression, though not a lot, so no more gemcitabine.

He is on  docetaxel ( taxane) and had his 3rd infusion ( so 1t cycle) last Thurday and feeling really unwell : extremely tired, mouth sores, no appetite, lost some weight and pain on the left belly area.

Hope the week off will give him some energy, but I must admit that his quality of life is raher poor for the moment.

I hope that his long survival will give hope to some of you, as he only had chemo and refused anyother treatment like radiation.

Has anyone had experience with this chemo? Thanks for any informationPat
