Awesome !!!!! There are people out there who "survive" in remission for many, many years... we know some of them. We agree that your attitude is a big part of things and that is something we have always hung on to.... I too have hubby on a very healthy diet and buy organic whenever possible. I also bought a juicer. Hubby can't have curcumin while in the drug trial but we keep it handy .... A friend of mine told me of someone he knows who treatment didn't work for so his wife gives him high doses of curcumin, healthy diet and a tea made of some kind of tree bark. He is doing great !!!! This forum is amazing! A great place to share and care ..... Keep up the good work !!! Thanks for sharing !!!!

Dear Wanda, My husband had stage 4 with 2 spots on his liver and 5 on spine. Over the course of 4 years he had all the chemos, metronomically - Gemcitabine, 5FU, Oxciliplatnin, Cyramza Folfox. Then surgery, then recoccurance, then chemo and radiation (that was a joke, came back in 6 weeks).

Then more chemo - and some pembrolizumab - Keytruda. After 90 days it can affect the lungs and he had shortness of breath. After a while the lungs were diagnosed with Pneumonitis. In retrospect, he should have been taken off of it for a while or altogether.

The body needs oxygen a lot and all the time, so he got very weak, became oxygen dependent. Took prednisone but couldn't get ahead of it.

I wish you the best and caution to keep on top of it.  Took chemo and Keytruda for 2 more months then couldn't.

I realize there's a balance between the disease and the side effects. All the best and anything can happen. God bless you.

Hi Mrs Cav Sorry to hear about the pembrolizumab not working as well as all other regimes. We are optimistic but very cautious as well. We have read up on studies etc of this drug. My hubby has been on pembrolizumab since Oct 2016... so far so good. As I have mentioned... we eat healthy, pray, stay positive and are fully aware of consequences. Chemo and radiation did nothing but make him weak...the cancer as still growing. Since I started his healthy diet, high doses of chemo and the pembrolizumab, he has continued to gained much needed weight, he feels great, one liver spot is gone, the other shrunk, the swollen lymph node gone and regression in main tumour. We will stay the course as long as possible because with time comes more advancement in cures.... we continue to pray .... bless you and thank you for sharing... we are ever so hopeful and watchful.... Wanda

Hi Kathy My husband is HER2 negative as well... he has passed the one year mark since diagnosis. He hasn't had chemo since July (same one as your husband) and only six rounds of radiation.,,he couldn't finish. He is doing better and better all the time on healthy diet, cannabis oil, prayer and staying positive. He also started pembrolizumab last Oct. Stay strong and hang in there...this is a very rough road !!!! Wanda

Hi Steve...sorry to hear that you had to join this club. It is a very scary dis-ease and I remember why it was like when my hubby was first diagnosed. We were in such shock nd went into high gear but that only made us confused nd overwhelmed. He was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma , two Mets to the liver, swollen lymph node and adrenal gland. Our GP suggested having a stent and enjoying what life he could but we wanted more. We sent to an oncologist who hit him hard with three chemos but after five treatments that failed nd he was to have ten rounds of radiation... he only had six as that filed to and closed his pipe completely. So he ended up with the dreaded stent. I say dreaded because it limited some of the other treatments the oncologist planned... anyway...by this time I started to really research and stopped feeding him the “sugar” the doc suggested he eat in order to gain weight and went into complete healthy eating mode, also looked into cannabis oil with high THC... then after a couple months we found a clinical trial for keytruda ... when he went to see if he qualified for this trial they were able to remove the stent and not replace it...appears something was working ! All this started in March 2016... he has been in the trail now for 19 months and he has no sign of tumour or anything else. There is a small spot on liver but they think perhaps it is scar tissue from chemo. Anyway... he is still here and doing good. He lost over fifty pounds and I doubt he will ever gain it back. Some of it was access anyway but it would be nice if he could put a little on. Oh and he was HER 2 positive. Hope this helps in some was. You will find good people on here with other experiences that may help. I find this site and smart patients to be very helpful... good luck and God Bless.. stay positive and breath... people have beaten bad diagnosis.....

Good !!! No sugar is a must !!!! Lots of fruits and veggies...preferably raw but whatever works. I l juice when I can and lots of smoothies with good protein powder ...AOR advanced whey .. I also put avocado and spinach in the smoothies. Berries with seeds too. Manuka honey is supposed to be good but my hubby does not like it. We also start every day with fresh squeezed lemon in hot water. The P.H. in your water is importnt too.... hope any or all of this helps.... Positive vibes coming to you !!!! W :)

Hi so good to talk to you my treatment starts next few weeks not sure about radiation therapy but prob folfox but my research says the radiation therapy targeting main tumor is essential and I am thinking of getting treatment done at Samsung hospital Seoul it’s only 9 hr flight from here no visa needed and they will do proton therapy on the cancer as well as the Chem And there have been excellent results with this much less side effects as well however we don’t have a proton beam facility in Australia yet what do you think ? Cheers Steve
