"I think I'm Dying" Redux

Hello all -

Today is the 5th year anniversary of my completing treatments for BOT squamous cell carcinoma.

I'm posting to again thank everyone who helped me along from the discovery of a lump in my neck and through my various decisions, procedures and complications.

I'm also posting to let those newly diagnosed or in the midst of treatment and/or recovery that there are many of us out here who have survived.  Such messages were so important to me when I was diagnosed.

So, yes, I think I'm dying; as we all are.  Hopefully a long, slow death not from cancer or other health issues, but from the natural aging process.  God's blessings to everyone!

John

JohnnyO,

Outstanding news, I am very happy for you reaching this milestone. It is not an easy road to travel, and a "New Normal" is our life style after what we go thru.

We have a new Graditude with our Attitude. As you mentioned, may we add many more chapters to our Book of Life.

My Best to You and Everyone Here

Johnny O,

Congrats!! Today is also my 5 year, anniversary.

I didn't find Cancer Compass until after I finished treatment, but I have benefited from plenty of post treatment advice. This is a priceless forum for sharing and caring. Thank you to all who participate.

Stay well everyone.

John and Jim,

Congratulations to you both!  Five years is such a happy anniversary!

You give lots of hope to folks less far along in their journeys.

All the best,

Susan (6.5 years out)

Congratulations! I'm new to this site. I'm a caregiver to my fianc├ę who has laryngeal SCC. He had a total laryngectomy 1/27/16. Was given 3 months to live 3/1/16. Tomorrow is his first birthday! However, it's a sad day. A recurrence was found outside the stoma. When he was under for surgery the cancer was found inside going down 4cm. Tomorrow we have our first appointment at Moffitt Cancer Center. It gives me hope but this recurrence is in a really bad location. Your post lifted my spirits. Continued good health to you!

Hey - CONGRATS!  Ain't it great to be alive!?

In 3 weeks (6/20) I celebrate my 4th anniversary of my last radiation treatment.  I feel SO good today and will add...

THIS board was my savior.  NO place else could I go and talk to people about feeding tubes and phlegm.  The recipes, suggestions and moral support are what I needed to get me through.  I went from 175 lb to 135 lb - but 3+ years back in the gym and I am better than new!

I hope others can celebaret as we can.
