      Re scoping the throat, my first ENT said it was to determine if there was any infringement of vocal chords. In my latest appointment I was able to watch on the monitor, it was pretty awesome to see.

        Thank you to everybody who recommended a second opinion at Emory. After an initial misstep (referred to wrong specialty) I was seen yesterday by Dr Amy Chen of Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at The Emory University School of Medicine. She scoped my throat and did an ultrasound in the exam room. Determined no change since inital ultrasound and biopsies in January. Recommended that rather t...

            I don’t think it IS defined at this point. The purpose of the proposed surgery is so that they can then send the entire nodule and the isthmus to pathology. Only after they have removed it will I find out whether there is a malignancy.

              I should be able to get into Emory. I live outside the meteo area in territory served by a satellite of Piedmont Hospital. I assume Emory takes Medicare. Will look into Emory, thanks.

                Although they identified several nodules on the right lobe up to 6mm and a 3mm cyst on the left, the ultrasound report only recommended biopsy of the isthmus nodule.

                  I feel like I fell down a rabbit hole when my GP found a lump at the bottom of my neck. What followed: - Ultrasound of thyroid found several nodules, one 2.5 cm on the isthmus - FNA was inconclusive - Referral to ENT who said entire thyroid had to come out, then changed his mind and ordered a core biopsy - Major pushback from interventional radiologists who implied test REQUESTED was “not normal”( Implying ...
