Hello everyone. I haven’t been on the board in probably close to a year. I had TT and i131 in November and December 2017 for papillary thyca. I kind of felt like I wanted to distance myself from the hardest time I’ve had in my life, but being 1 year post, I’m feeling great and wanted to just hop on and say hi and maybe give encouragement to anyone who is going thru this now. It gets better! I actually feel so much be...

What are the recommended guidelines? I just received my 1 year post TT and I131 ablation labs. I had them at 6 months post and I think my TG was 0.0. Now at 1 year post TT my TGAB is <0.9, TG is <0.1 and TG by lc-ms/ms was non applicable. Concerning because i was expecting 0.0. I had never even heard of TG by lc-ms/ms. Reading it sounds like these results would indicate negatives, but I still don’t even like seeing a...

I did have a noticeable nodule, but oddly I never really paid it much attention. I guess because I lived with it and was young and never really felt around or looked at my neck much. My pcp pointed it out to me and once he did I was like wow yes. Looking back, it is noticeable in all of the pictures I took as well. At the time of surgery it measured 3.8x2.8x2.4. I can’t remmeber what it was initially. It was always 3...

I got excellent information from my nuclear medicine techs, but of course everything is recommendations. I received 106 dose 7 days ago. I know the half life is 8 days. Anyone have any good info on when I can cuddle with my 4 year old again? :-( it’s been an emotional time and she doesn’t understand why I have to stay away from her. Since my husband works out of town on weekdays (he’s on vacation until the new year, ...

So happy to hear this!! I had the same diagnosis. My first FNA was in December 2012 and was benign. I decided to follow it with ultrasound, blood work and endocrinologist visits every 6 months. Fast forward to this October. FNA showed stage 4 follicular neoplasm and you know the rest. TT, RAI and here I am 7 Days out from it. If it’s causing issues otherwise with swallowing, voice etc., then consider removing it....

Thank you! Same to you! I actually just left from my WBS. I’m ready to put this all behind me! I’m feeling better each day. I hope you are doing good too! It sucks to be a part of this club, but I’m thankful for so many helpful, knowledgeable, kind and empathetic people here. :-)

Has anyone ever taken out cancer coverage from their employer as a supplement? I did, and going to be denied my claim due to “pre-existing condition” because my thyroid disease has been monitored before I got my cancer diagnosis. So frustrating. I pay a pretty penny for the supplement for my family because you just never know. :-(

Woke up this morning with some discomfort in my parotid glands. Nothing major, but noticeable. I read some studies that said to withhold lemon drops/sour candy for 24 hours post RAI so I decided to do that. I’ve been drinking plenty of water and will try some candy this afternoon. The reasoning was more radioactive iodine is pulled to the salivary glands initially by sucking candy. I think 28% more, but at the same t...

Sorry I didn’t notice this reply before I responded....like I said I’m all emotional. . My surgeon did advise it. When I was being discharged, I was discharged by the hospitalist I suppose to told me to continue with all my meds as before, but I had remembered needing to be hypo for RAI and I work healthcare and have several RN friends who also told me their experiences of withholding meds until speaking with the...
