    I had intensive radiotherapy for throat cancer and in a recent blood test was told to go on to Thyroxine (by my GP) as I wasn't producing thyroid hormone. I'm in my 50's so, not in the age group you are describing. Should I have more tests?

      Dear Susan... I wish the aggravating hairs on my chin had disappeared!!! And yes... I am on thyroid replacement hormone medication for the rest of my life as radiation destroyed that too! But! I am alive! And smiling!

        Yes, I had radiation treatment for throat cancer and wore my hair short for a year. Being a woman it didn't matter that much as I could grown it to cover the area affected. But it did start growing a year later.

          Love and strength to you. I am 3yrs post cancer in my right tonsil. So far so good. As for your father, at this time of his life, the most important thing is his comfort which includes pain control. Is there an Oncology nurse you can contact? I find the information the nurses have far better than anything a doctor can impart. I haven't much to say but I did want to give you some emotional support in what you are doin...

            I am in awe of your spirit. Thank for your words of wisdom and practicality. I always think that our partners, our carers are the ones who get neglected in all of this. My husband is my rock. When I looked like the Elephant Mans sister after 17hrs of surgery to my throat/neck, he told me I was beautiful to him and when I panicked with trying to master the tracheotomy, he kept saying soothing and positive words to giv...
