Danny, Many of us with Tonsil cancer have no symptoms before being diagnosed with cancer except an enlarged lymph node. It is not cancer until they say it is cancer. good luck and I hope you do not need to join this exclusive club. Arman

I agree.  There seems to be less postings on this sit than 5 years ago when I 1st joined. Hopefully, it is due to less newcomers into this exclusive club.

Bugsy and I started treatment at the same time 4 1/2 years ago. Like Bugsy, I was also diagnosed with T2N1M0 with primary in the right tonsil SCC HPV+. I had surgery to remove the tonsil followed by 6 1/2 weeks of IMRT.  I considered Proton therapy but was recommended against it. I was told by the surgeon that Proton therapy is most effective when dealing with a solid tumor and that was not the case with me. I a...

Bugsy, Hard to believe it has been almost 5 years. You and I started this journey about the same time and thank god we both have made it to the 5 year finish line. I hope you are doing well and your new normal is almost same as your old normal. Good luck to you with the visit to MD Anderson Arman

Lardog, Kevin's cancer was HPV positive, but he was also a heavy smoker. This cancer has 85% chance of cure; unfortunatley for Kevin, his cancer never went away and finally spread to his brain.

Kevin Colangelo who 1st started this posting died early 2018 from this disease. His cancer had spread to his brain 2 years after he finished the initial treatment and it was a hard battle from that point. He will be in my prayers.

Tig, Congratulations on making it to two year mark. 2 year is a major milestone for head and neck cancer positive for the HPV virus but both my doctors warned me to stay vigilant and continue with regular screening until 5 years. Best of luck to you and everyone with this disease. Arman

My situation is almost identical to your husband's. I was diagnosed with stage III tonsil cancer 4 years ago. The primary was found in the right tonsil with one lymph node involvement on the same side of the neck. I consulted with two surgeons and two oncologists and they all agreed with no surgery approach since most patients end up with Radiation at minimum for treatment.  The Chemo Dr. Recommended both chem...

I was diagnosed with stage III Tonsil cancer caused by the HPV virus. The primary tumor was in the right tonsil that had spread to one lymph node in the neck on same side. I had the tonsil removed followed by 6 1/2 weeks of radiation with no chemo completed Nov 2014.  You may consider a 2nd opinion from another cancer center if her cancer is caused by HPV virus and caught at stage II.
