They used radiation only on the right frontal lobe, and other parts of his brain containing the Tumors. He did not have full head radiation. He takes 4mg tabs of Dexamethasone. 3 tabs a day. Knowing about long term effects of the radiation is essential and good. Thanks for pointing that out to. Blessings to you and yours.

Wow Sarah. Your husbands behaviors really reflect those of my son. Thanks for sharing with me. I was beginning to think I was doing something wrong or I wasn't doing enough for him. He is scheduled to take his first MRI after the radiation and chemo treatments on Feb 5.

Yes, I'm already seeing that his diet needs some over-hauling, especially in the sweets department. The green tea sounds like a good idea. Don't think I could get him to drink the other one. I am also working on getting him to exercise more. He shies away from exercise because of weakness in his legs. Also he has trouble operating the left side of his body because of the tumor.

Yes, he is on that medicine as well. They reduced hi s intake from 6 pills a day to 3 pills a day. He's sleeping more and has mild seizures where he zones out for short spans of time. He is on seizure medication but it has not stopped them altogether. A Praying Mom

I am looking for survivors of astrocytoma glioma stage 3 brain cancer. My 26 year old son was diagnosed with this condition and has already undergone radiation and oral chemo treatment. Looking for ideas to help him progress toward recovery. He complains about not having strength in his legs, but he mostly eats and then lays in the bed. Have made several attempts to keep him active but he continues to resist. ...

Thank you ver much for the tip on social security. I believe he may be considered for SSI but they still require a 5 month waiting period I'm told. If he does qualify he won't be eligible for 2-3 more months. He did have a social worker in his state working on his case. I will be trying to verify this SSI info shortly.

My son was diagnosed within the last six months with brain cancer. Specifically, the doctors say he has astrocitoma glioma, stage 3 found in his frontal lobe, his brain stem and his cerebellum. During the first week of Jan., 2013 he completed all his radiation treatments and oral chemo. He is now in a 30 day period W/o radiation or chemo and is due to have an MRI on Feb. 5. He currently has Medicaid in the state...
