    well nearly 3 years it is now since i was 35 and diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer,moved to my lymph nodes as well....no surgery,just the usual radiation and chemo..not much hope at all...s**t i wouldnt have even thought i would be here to write this with all the doom and gloom going through my head...sure ive had my ups and downs..had it move to my small bowel ...BAM...doc cuts it out... thanks doc....re...

        Well 3 weeks ago i had a tumour removed from my small bowel,got the results yesterday that it was the same cancer as in my esophagous(didnt really surprise me)..The scariest thing is though that since my surgery and just in the past 2 weeks my swallowing has drastically deteriated and its getting worse day by day.I had a PET scan on wednesday and have to wait until friday next week to get the results off my oncologis...

          hi gracie, I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and it had spread to a distant lymph node...it showed up on a pet scan as a node that was taking up high glucose or something(im not sure how that works)but for a definate conclusion the doctor used an ultrasound and took a biopsy with a huge needle with a claw type contraption on it and it gave positve a result...i think it would depend where the lymph node(s) is? ...

                hello, This is something i can definitley relate to.Im 36 and I was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer and non regional lymph node involvement about  a year and a half ago,told it was incurable/inoperable and very poor long term outcome.Well treatment so far has had a positive effect and im truly,truly grateful and glad,i look normal and i feel physically ok and so far the damn thing hasnt reared its ugly...

                  hi chifan, I had a j tube put in before i had the treatment as it was kind of a backup in case my throat completly closed.It was placed directly into the stomach and is not painful at all.I didnt really use it in the end apart from flushing it with water everyday to keep it clean.One of my main things when i had it was to keep the area clean and the tube clean,i would use alchohol wipes wich would work well and C sh...

                    Hi I am in similiar position...I was treated for stage 4 esophageal cancer which had spread to a distant lymph node and since treatment there is no signs of cancer on my ct scans wich has been nearly 2 years.I was told initially that surgery was never going to be an option as it had already spread to a distant site ie the lymph node.I have asked the oncologist many times is surgery an option but always get the same ...

                      hello eternal, Im Dan and 36.Im not a 5 year survivor yet but am coming on two years after being treated for stage 4 inoperable esophageal cancer and only had 28 days of radiation and two 5 day chemo treatments and completley cancer free so far....:) I too would love to hear from anyone around that is in a similiar situation...:)
