No, it was general diet advice. But I have read that cooking the veggies decreases the goitrogens in the foods and we always eat them cooked. In my research over the past weeks, I have seen nothing showing any particular diet is mandatory, other than 'eating healthy', but my endo suggested to avoid cruciferous vegetables.

That is great because we eat a lot of both with our diet! Thanks!

Besides PTC, I have Hashimotos and even though my thyroid is out now, my doc said to avoid cruciferous vegetables. I can't find good data that says these are bad, though I found one article that said to cook them instead of eating them raw. Anyone else get diet advice?

Hi Rachel, I am new to this site as well and just had my thyroidectomy on 2-13. I get my first labs next week to see if I need RAI and to check for mets/left over thyroid tissue. My husband asked the exact same question your family did! I have read a lot about RAI but will surely research much more if I am told I need it. I will follow this post to see what others have to say. Best of luck to you, I hope it all work...

Thank you so much, and you as well! Saw my surgeon today, and she said she will refer me to ENT and Speech Pathology if it continues past 6 weeks. Hopefully it will improve before then!

Hi all - anyone have trouble swallowing liquids after surgery? I am a little over 2 weeks out and have to swallow very carefully with small sips or it goes down the wrong way and I cough. Anyone have this problem and any tips on how to manage it?
