I am so sorry you and Shadow are going through this.  It is very difficult.  Here is how I knew my Stuart was on his final last 2 days.  He started obvious signs he just did not feel good.  On day two he began panting and was inside a nice cool home. It was a sunday afternoon and I watched  him closely all day.   By that evening the panting was constant and he snipped at  my hu...

Hi Trix08 We lost our Stuart this year to TCC.  My fear was the same, when will we know.  When the time came I had no doubt what so ever it was time.  First sign for us was very little urine.    Within 24/48 hours he slowed way down, looked like he did not feel well at all and lost his pep.  Stuart was eating and drinking still.  The night we put him down, he was clearly in&n...

Keep some bland food on hand.  Dogs are like humans, when their tummy gets upset they too need bland food.  You can boil chicken breast to have at the ready. It also freezes well.  Another good tip is to have dog diapers.  I started with the disposable ones on line but they get expensive so I bought these on amazon.  They have different brands for male or female. Wegreeco Wegreeco Brown ...

Hi Trix08: My dog cannot handle the piroxicam.  It always made him vomit even with th pepcid. But yes my vet recommended that too and we cut one pill in to 1/4 each so the does is very small.  My dog is 15lbs.    Along with the meds, I began making my own dog food and I buy a very high quality of kibble.   The diet needs to be high protein very low carb.   Cancer feeds o...

We are blessed to still have him with us. His urine flow is very little now and he strains to go.  I can see the decline slowing.  Some days are better than others. He is not showing any signs of pain.  Has a great appetite and still wags his tail with happiness.  I continue to make homemade dog food and give daily massages, love and prayers.   Thanks for checking in on him. &nb...

Once the tumor reaches 100% or blocks the urine flow and he cannot go potty we must send him to doggy heaven.  When the urine backs up into their body it is a terrible painful death for them.   So you have to know when that is happening.  That is the action we have to take since we opted out of any surgeries etc.

I am so sorry you and your fur baby are going through this.  My Stuart always has blood in his urine now and often has  had little blood clots.  He strains to go potty allot and is not always releasing urine when he does.  Our vet told us as soon as there is 100% blockage and he is unable to urinate that is when it is time to take action as it will be a horrible painful time within 24 ho...
