Susan, Thank you. The radiation oncologist reviewed the last ones an hour after they were taken - the ENT will wait until the report is generated. In my appointment, the radiation oncologist said they consider the anniversary (if you will!) to start at the time of diagnosis, which would place this scan at two years exactly. He said two years after diagnosis is significant. Of course I had the swollen lymph node ...

Hi, I just had my 18-month post-treatment CT scan which thankfully was clear. I had a PET-CT at 3 months and 6 months, then a CT at 12 months post-treatment. Then this last CT at 18 months. Today, after just seeing the doctor last week, I received in the mail an order for a CT scan in September, which is four months from now and on the 2-year anniversary of my diagnosis. I was kind of surprised (perhaps alarmed)...

You have been through the mill. You voice your regrets very clearly. I echo one of them. I thought I was done with a philandering husband at the divorce. He came back to visit in the form of HPV cancer of the BOT. I regret not hounding my family doctor more about my vague complaints. Went on like that for two plus years with just a swollen lymph node. When I finally went to an ENT, he ordered the MRI and hi...

Good news indeed! Have a wonderful trip. I just had my 18th month CT this morning. I had a huge run in with the ENT office because I wanted the results ASAP. The medical assistant said the ENT would wait for the report. Mind you, this is the same medical assistant who called me ONE MONTH after my last scan. Of course I went to the radiation oncologist so I already had received the results. ONE MONTH. I told t...

Hello, Just thought I would stop in to offer encouragement to those just diagnosed or in the midst of the horrific treatment. I had a one year CT scan and a scope this week. All good. A three-month PET and six-month PET were also clean. Yay! I have had several other cancers and this treatment was brutal. No point in putting a good spin on it, other than the outcome. I know there are different approaches to the...

Hi, I am ten months out of treatment for BOT HPV cancer, doing well. Question: when I look at the back of my mouth and throat, the soft palate (I think that is the correct term) is not symmetrical. It looks fine and uniform in color, just sags a little on the side that received the radiation. Is this a normal thing to happen? I try to do exercises but have slacked off. I see the ENT this week. Just curious if...

Sorry for the typo: I finished with treatment in November 2016.

Hi, I w at treatment in November 2016. It was my 5th cancer and certainly was evil regarding treatment. I have had good scans, knock on wood. Good exams too. I did not have a feeding tube and although I lost some weight, all is good as far as swallowing. I eat normally and can taste most foods but here is my complaint. I have an odd taste on one side of my mouth where most radiation was targeted. I don't ...

Well, that article is certainly encouraging. Gives me even more hope for a future. I can live with a dry mouth. Thank you very much!

It is clear! The 3-month one lit up a bit so I was worried. The biopsy scheduled for tomorrow is cancelled! I know this is early and I am not out of the woods but I believe in celebrating good news. Other than no saliva, I am doing fine. Eating normally; I did not have a PEG tube as the hospital here discourages it. I know there are other opinions and everyone is different. I am still fatigued and that is hard...
