Aloha Everyone,

I just found this site.  I too was born in May 1951 in Maywood, California, with two "birthmarks" (hemangiomas). I too was treated with radiation. My older sister (passed) told me that the treatment was a "box" placed on my back and my buttocks.  She said the trip from home on the bus took longer than the actual treatment. I was 6 months old. I was told that my  hemangiomas were about the size of an adult female's fist.  I do not know how many treatments or anything else about my radiation. They were all sequestered behind a door. My scars look like melted skin and seem to have shrunk as I got "bigger"

I tried contacting the hospital where I was born, but no records. Anyone else born in Southern California in the 50's? and were treated?

I have respiratory issues.  When I get a cold, it always settles in my chest and lasts a very long time. I too take thyroid medication for an underacting thyroid. At 20, i had an 8 lb ovarian benign cyst removed. At 33 I  had a miscarriage and at 34 and 35  went on to give birth to 2 healthy babies. I am now in full menapause.

I was told by my children's pediatrician that "I was a time bomb waiting to go off" ! NOT very comforting.  So far, so good, I am 68, and have not learned of any cancer.  I am hoping that I will not have any cancer, as I love my life.. however, I do live under the shadow of "will I die" young.

So if there are any of you out there wanting to share or know about your radiation, or how to get records of how we were treated, i would appreciate hearing from you.

Be well
