Because he has CKD his kudneys do not function well so the filtration is low. He’s been on 20 mg the entire time because, although he takes the lowest dose age, it does build up in his system (because of lack of filtration) which means a larger amount stays in his system longer which has been a super bomb to the tumor in his kidney. Hubby has been on Cabo for 17 months. Main line tumor in kidney has shrunk over 50 percent. He’s now on 2 weeks on 1 week off. Hubby also has severe chronic kidney disease. So this drug has been difficult on his kidney function. We are entering new territory no data us available for a patient taking Cabo while simultaneously having dialysis.

That’s kind of a misnomer. When your body consumes large amounts of sugar, it lowers your immune system. Cancer cells do not feed off of sugar. If your immune system is low, it’s more difficult to get the cancer under control.

Regarding the nerve pain: my husband’s pain management team put him on Cymbalta. They have found that for cancer patients, Cymbalta eliminates the nerve pain. They started him on the lowest dosage and gradually increased it. It has worked beautifully. Nerve pain completely under control. Our naturopath team also recommended a product called Milkweed Balm. They have a Facebook page and a website. It’s a cumulati...
