I had surgery where they took out 24” of my intestines and had a hysterectomy at the same time. I then started seeing Dr Woltering in Kenner LA who does CTs and MRI semiannually. I’m four years clear after Stage 4. There is hope if you see the experts. Dr Woltering is the best.

You must see a specialist for carcinoid. Most likely you need CT and MRI with contrast to chase down your primary tumor area. The pain should not be present if everything is ok. Your oncologist sounds worthless and carelessly ignoring your symptoms.

The tests are not adequate. Contact Eugene Woltering in Kenner Louisiana, for an appointment immediately. He is very thorough and his blood testing top notch. If you have carcinoid cancer, he will find it and his team will aggressively pursue a treatment you can trust.

See Dr Woltering. It's worth the wait. You'll need the referral ASAP. Have her current Doctor call him for suggestions while you wait.

I'm so sorry your husband has suffered for so long with carcinoid. I'm going to be realistic in my reply. Your doctor has not been treating this cancer very aggressively if we can take your message at face value. Did he have an octreocide scan at least yearly. After his surgery did he have monthly Lar or sandostatin. Were the monthly markers for the rise of serotonin taken in the lab. Has he had CTs and MRIs all thro...

I'm sorry to hear your husband is so sick. Your doctor is right on most things. Food choices, working, slow growing, chemo. His serotonin level means the hormone feeding this cancer is causing the cancer to grow. If the doctor checked his chromagrantin A level and it is also high, he needs more aggressive stance in treating such as surgery and high level sandostatin. I've been referred to New Orleans for a second opi...

I had two masses, one in my intestine and one on an ovary. The GYN said this tumor was the first carcinoid he had seen in his 16 years of practice. I had two surgeons in the operating room and they removed 24 inches of small intestine and all of the female organs. You need surgery. Don't let the GYN block it. Follow up with an oncologist familiar with this cancer. Not all oncologists are well versed in it.

Push for the Octrecide scan. It will light up any spots of the cancer and make decisions about treatment easier. See a specialist for this cancer. It must be removed and then shots taken to prevent recurrence or progression. Extensive blood labs should be done.
