My family has smokers who go outside to smoke.  Is this effective in lessening the effects on children?  Has anyone studied this?

Vitamins are very complex and poorly understood, compared to other areas, i think. Although I eat fresh fruits and veggies every day, I also use vit. suppplements daily.  I have stage 4 lung cancer and have survived for 4 years on this regimen, while doing chemo also (Tarceva).  I think your son is wrong to say it's all in your head, because your head is paart of your body and can tell you what you need som...

What happens when a smoker comes inside from a cigarette and exhales in the house?  I can detect cigarette smell on people in the waiting room aat the doctor's office.  Is this also second-hand smoke?  Is it also harmful?

Hello everyone. This is my first post here- I just discovered this site and am so glad. I am a 70 year -old retired prof. with stage 4 non-small-cell lung cancer. Had surgery 4 years ago and lost the upper 1/2 of my left lung. Then months of cisplatin followed by radiation for about 3 months. Had heart complications later, but it cleared up. Scared me though. I started on Tarceve almost two years ago after metastaces were found in my right lung. Side effects I've had are almost constant rashes on face which varies in intensity, diarrhea which is also intermittent. Lost most of my hair on the first round and with Tarceva, it's comming in wiry and curly. Very dry, flaky skin. Loss of appetite but no vomiting or nausea. I feel very lucky to still be alive-and the side effects are tolerable so far. Every 3 months I get a CT scan to check the tumors. After the first 3 months, the tumors had slowed groth and by 6 months had begun to shrink . Now, two of the tumors are almost gone and none have grown (there are 6 fairly small ones).. Lost 25 lbs and needed to. Thanks to all of you for your ideas and experiences. Take care..
