Hello all I'm Randy's sister and wanted to let you know he lost his battle May 29th.  I was able to visit with him a few days earlier (we live 3,000 miles apart) and he was cheerful and in good spirits; his smile was constant.  I know it was his wish not put his wife and children through anymore of his battle and so I think the Angels came when he was was ready to say good-bye to us. &n...

Well Friday is almost here and a PET scan awaits.  Rick's cancer was in his nasal cavity and the lymph nodes on both sides.  We're both very nervous and hopefully it's just scar tissue.  He has lost sooooooo much weight.  Was never a heavy guy, few pounds over but so far he's down more than 50lbs.  He's lost more weight since he stopped treatments than during.  This really concerns me as...

My Rick just had a CT after 33 rads and 7 chemos 90 days ago (no surgery) . Dr said there is 'something' in his lymph nodes left side and no evidence of cancer remaining in his nasal cavity.  If it's a new tumor dr said will have to refer him for surgery.  Has anyone had scar tissue JUST from the radiation? What would the surgery mean and would he have to have more chemo?  Head is spinning here.....

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences.  I've passed this on to Rick and I think he is less anxious now about how he's feeling.  I admire all you warriors ... you've fought and are still here offering help to those still in the throws of this awful thing.  God Bless

My Rick has now completed 35 rads and 10 chemos.  His last radiation was on Dec 11th.  He's telling me he feels worse now than he did while taking chemo.  He sleeps 12-14 hours a day and said he feels dizzy and his legs are weak.  Sometimes he nearly falls down when trying to get around.  Does this sound normal?  I know his treatments have long term effect but he really does seem to be d...

Hello - my boyfriend has HNC and we live in Central FL.  He has no insurance but is being treated at county hospital under their catastrophic care program.  What part of Central FL are you in?  Maybe that coverage is available for her.  Send me a private message and we can chat if you'd like.

Thank you Mark and Susan.  We mixed Ensure and the formula half in half and that seemed to do the trick, at least for the time being.  He will see the nutrionist tomorrow and see about different formula. Mark - you said soy milk will make Rick sad.  What's the best alternative and why doesn't the nutrionist talk about that?

Thanks everyone for all the great information.  I will investigate and try everything that I can.  I had no idea the cancer society might be able to help with prescription drugs for the uninsured.  I'm excited to see what they can do.  God Bless all with their struggles to beat this monster.
