So glad to hear from you.  Your info and experience sure helped me to get through that very hard time when my husband was diagnosed in Sept 2010 with tonsil cancer.  Your experience let me know what was expected and what not through his bout with this ugly disease.  It helped me through his neck dissection in Feb 2011.  If you weren't there for me I wouldn't have been as able to help him through h...

My husband was in Nam 68/69.  Arrived in time for the Tet Offensive.  The visiting nurse told us we should put in an app to the VA but we never did.  At the time, I think he was just trying to get through the treatment and didn't want to be prodded by VA doctors.  My husband never drank nor smoked.  I believe that agent orange could be inhaled which would involve mouth/oral cavity.  ...

Sorry, I'm late but better late than not at all.  I am so glad to hear your back on the site.  You were an inspiration to me during my husband's treatment for tonsil cancer and and his neck dissection.  I'm glad to say he's post treatment now for 2 years and three months the 8th of February.  He will be going for a CT scan before his next med oncologist appointment in May and I'm thinking positive...

Such wonderful news.  My husband will have been out of treatment 18 months on 8 May 2012.  So glad he's still with us and pray one day I can also say he's hit his 5 year mark after treatment for tonsil cancer.  God Bless you both.

My husband was prescribed Colgate 2000.  It's a tube toothpaste which contains flouride.  He brushes with it in the morning and at bedtime.  On 8 April it will be 17 months since his last radiation treatment for tonsil cancer.  Unfortunately, he's one of the ones that has not regained his tastebuds back nor saliva and must carry a btl of water with him everywhere he goes but he's still here and ab...

I'm so sorry to hear what your father has gone through.  My husband is 14 months out of treatment for tonsil cancer and he still suffers from no saliva and no taste buds.  He has become a connoisseur of water and says that different waters have different tastes.  How he can tell, who knows? His voice some times becomes hoarse.  He eats most food because he knows he has to get his nutrition. H...

I am hoping and praying he gets good news from his test results.  He has to remember, he's still here and when you come down to it, that's all that counts!   D

Unfortunately everyone is not the same when it comes to healing and regaining saliva back. My husband is post treatment 14 months and still experiences dry mouth.  He used to enjoy eating but now tries to eat everything even though he hasn't regained back his tastebuds.  I sure hope that by the 2 year mark he can say he has his saliva and taste back.  Of course I hope for this to be back 100% but I'm s...

My husband battles the same dry mouth.  He also uses Biotene products and carries a water bottle with him everywhere he goes.  Haven't heard anything about this clinical trial.  I think he has accepted this may be the way it's going to be from now on.  He's 14 months out of treatment and doing well other than that and tastebud issues.  Keep positive.  Having him here is what we are thank...
