How's the radiation going? My mom is just on chemo once a month, so she's never had to go through the radiation aspect of treatment. I am doing ok. My father's surgery is going on right now...I am in the waiting room. He is having skin cancer removed from the bottom of his foot. Before the surgery, he had to have an injectable dye out in him to see if the cancer has spread to his lymphnodes. I am trying to stay posit...

wildrose, Isn't it funny how you read something like this on a day when you have lost all faith?? That's how I feel at this very moment. I have almost given up on having faith because of everything that has been going on, but finding this support group and now reading your post has made me want to dig deeper and find my faith again...My parents need me to have faith! Thank you

Wow what a story your mother has! I am so glad to hear that she is getting great medical care at MD Anderson. I am fairly new to the melanoma world. My father was just diagnosed with Stage II melanoma on the bottom of his foot and has surgery this month to remove it and to see if it has spread anywhere. My mother also has Stage IV lung cancer, so yea it's been crazy to say the least. I amsending positive thoughts and...

Wow your husband's inital story sounds very familiar to my mothers. In August 2013 she was diagnosed with Stage IIIA. The surgery to remove the tumor in her left lung was on December 3rd. They went it to try and perform the surgery and saw that the cancer had spread into her chest cavity and it was so small that the scans did not pick it up. So that's when she was diagnosed as Stage IV. She has one large tumor a...

My mother was also on the carbo/alitma regimen when she was diagnosed with stage III A, but now that she is stage IV, she is on a different chemo treatment and only goes once a month for maintenance chemo. What stage does your husband have? I am also curious as to if/when patients become resistant to the chemo treatment. My mother was initally diagnosed almost a year ago and I am so happy to have her around and I hat...

Higginsmom, I am so sorry for your loss. It's ok to miss her and cry and be upset! My mother has stage IV lung cancer and she is my best friend. I know that it mustbe difficult to want to call her and laugh with her, but just think of all of those great times you all had together. Remeber her as your best friend who you loved until the very end. Not many people can say that they had the same best  friend for 40...

dchor61, I could not imagine being in your position. There is no doubt that this is a tough time for you and your husband, but just remember that you are not alone. Find support and strength within yourself and when that doesn't work lean on those closest to you. Having support from others via support groups can also be comforting. Prayers to you!

Hello, I can relate to your story. My parents both have cancer. My mother has stage IV lung cancer and my father has stage II melanoma on the bottom of his foot. I know that our parents try to "protect" us by keeping the entire truth from us. All I can say is be there for them no matter what. Would it be possible to go to the next appt for your dad in order to find out the plans and then let your siblings know? Anot...
