Hey Suggi: I posted-had radiation as an infant-probably 1941. So far so good. I'm a dentist-know some science.  I would not worry about the radiation altering your genetics.  That's in ovaries and sperm-no where near thyroid.  Unlikely to pass on to children, etc. Good luck, Barry

WOW     You've been thru allot.  Briefly, I had/have asthma since childhood, off and on, but never tought was result of radiation, etc.    I'm back with lung problems, onand off for some years butstill very functional.  I mountain bike, lift weights, etc. and ran 20 marathons including Boston   (3). So it hasn't curtailed my life too much.

When were you born-what year?   I'm 75 now, born 1940. My MD always palpates my throid on exams for lumps but so far so good.  Throid cancer is certainly a risk.

Hi I had the radiation probably a year or two before you for same tproblem-enlarged Thymus. I had/have asthma, allergies as a child and have lung problems now in my 70s.  I'm a dentist still practicing. I personally wouldn't connect most of those problem-mine or yours to the radiation.  If we come down with thyroid cancer that's another story.  That's my main concern and so far so good.  My MD ...

Hi Lorraine: Briefly, my mother told me later that I had been crying as an infant and suddenly stopped and she found me turning blue-wasn't breathing apparently due to large thymus.  The treatment at that time was radiation to shrink it.  That was "standard of care" apparently.  Forget lawsuits!  A touch too late but standard of care would preclude it anyay. To me the main problem would be thyro...

Hi Jane Belling: I'm a dentist in my early 70's living in LA area.   I had an enlarged thymus as an infant I was told.   It stopped my breathing my mother told me later.  Had the radiation.  So far no thyroid cancer, etc.     The issue of your teeth-As an example that proves nothing I have a patient exactly like you in that his brothers all have great teeth and he got th...

L hate to disappoint you guys in legal action mode but this was the "standard of care" at the time.  I had the radioation also and have been lucky-no cancer. I say    let it rest!
