Hi Chris, I'm writing this as I'm getting my first chemo....just getting the fluids now and they'll be infusing the drugs afte I get back from radiation. I'm getting Cisplatin which brings side effects of it's own to deal with. I'll be heading down for rads in a few so I don't have a lot of time but I wanted to say thanks.I appreciate the advice. ...Ooops... nurse  is here... gotta go! I hear that! Getting a 2nd opinion was the best thing I did as well. Very similar experience locally. It seemed one hand didn't know what the other was doing! Went to Johns Hopkins and what a difference! The care there has been nothing less than stellar! Similar Dx too Tx N2b, MO, stage IV Selective neck dissection on 2-7, starting RT treatment the 14, 1st chemo infusion the 18th. PEG going in. "T"

Hi Paula, Thanks for the shout out :) Congrats on 4 years NED. I like this guy NED. I hope to become great friends with him. I'm dong Ok. I had surgery on Feb. 7th to remove the cancerous lymph nodes and TORS to do biopsies and a laryngoscopy. They ended up taking my lingual tonsils too. 11 days later on the moring of the 18th (the day I was to have the staples removed), I awoke with a feeling something was in my t...

Ahhh the mask. I was fitted and had a sim run but I'll be doing that all again as I opted to be treated at JH. I'll be in and out for the surgery. Just one night in the hospital barring complications. They said it will be about the same as the tonsilledctomy. That pretty much sucked but I was still able to eat soft foods and liquids. As long as I have good pain meds (and they assured me I will), I'll be Ok. "T"

They did check for HPV buit came back negative. The team at Hopkins has other ways of testing but they still didn't find anything conclusive as of yet. They know of my work on the phone and that I'm a musician/singer. Several members on the team treated a friend of mine and he's doing well (another musician). I'm fully confident they have my best interests in mind concerning treatment, unlike the Dr's I initially me...

Hi Gary, Thanks for the response. I did have a 2nd opinion and I'm SO glad I did! I'll be seeking treatment at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. As of now, I classified Tx, N2b, MO, Stage IV. The PET scan showed some uptake on my right tonsil but biopsies did not find it there or BOT or nasopharynx. The "TEAM" at Johns Hopkins saw a suspicious area on the back of my tongue. I'm sceduled for surgery next Thursday. Select...

Hi Susan, We'll probably have someone come by to hang with him for a bit each day. Some cats are good for a couple of days by themselves but Pixie Bobs have to have someone there if you're going to be gone for more than 36 hours. They're very unique cats for sure. We went to visit family this weekend and he was by himself from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon. You would have thought we were gone forever! We ha...

Hi Susan, Thank you for the reply.  Some things have taken place in the last week that have changed my plans dramatically.  I had a scheduled 2nd opinion at Johns Hopkins yesterday. I have a friend who recently went through the same thing. He's 18 months NED and was treated there. Impressive is an understatement! I walked into registration, signed a privacy agreement and got a bar code badge. I then wal...
