I had chemo and radiation together. They work together. The chemo makes the radiation work better.

I am a little late on this but... I did my chemo and radiation at a local facilty but it was arranged through the hospital that I planned to have my surgery at. You need to see someone that specializes in esophageal cancer. I went to MD Anderson and saw Boris Sepsi. Please email me if I can give you any advice. I was diagnosed last March. Had chemo, daily radiation followed by surgery in July.

I will be turning 34 in October. I was diagnosed in March of last year. Please email me if you or him have any questions. I have chemo, radiation, followed by surgery in July.  He is right. It is imperative that you go to someone that knows what they are doing. And with his age, he can handle aggressive treatment. I went to MD Anderson in Houston to a doctor that specializes in esophageal cancer.

I had the "white foam" stuff happen. It was horrible. Takes your breath away. You are pretty much choking when it happens. It happened to me right before I was diagnosed. my doctor said that the esophagus creates extra mucouse when you have a tumor trying to block your pipe. It went away for me after a few rounds of chemo. Also, if I only ate pudding, potatoes, etc. it didn't happen. It is caused by the extra mucous ...

Thank you so much for all your time and advice.  I went to my MD for an xray to check my tube placement and to make sure that I wasn't backed up or something.  After I read your story and symptoms, I just couldn't think of anything else that could be causing this except for some kind of blockage.  I don't think it's dumping.  It's like once the food that I eat hits a certain spot, about 30 minutes...

Your description of your dumping syndrome is exactly what is going on with me. My surgery was 7/23. I had my first episode of dumping about 4 weeks ago. Just the sweating and then the dry heave part. It started happening every now and then and now has increased to every single thing I eat except cheese its and apples. I still have a jtube because they don't want to take it out yet just in case I can't maintain my w...

Thank you Phil. It seems like I am thinking that I have to eat alot more than I actually do. I am going to the store and I'm going to try to eat exactly this tomorrow :) I was wondering about the alcohol. I miss my weekend Long Island Ice Teas for sure. With the tiny bit my stomach can hold, I was thinking I probably would never be able to enjoy the relaxation from a couple of those again. But- maybe Just one of the...

Thank y'all so much. I decided to leave the tube in yesterday for a little longer. I don't want to end up losing a lot of weight and have to have it put back in. This is really hard on me because I use to be a fast food junkie. I've never prepared my own meals. I never use to eat before 12 or 1 and usually just ate a large lunch and very small supper. Six meals a day would be hard for me on a normal day, so especiall...

I had my chemo and radiation done locally at Texas Onchology and then went to MD Anderson for my surgery. My surgeon was Dr. Sepesi. The chemo and radiation I received (5 weeks of taxo/carbo) completely got rid of the tumor but they always want to do the surgery anyways to be sure everything is gone. I can tell you that MD Anderson is wonderful. They know what they are doing. They are very confident in that as well. ...

I was wanting to see what everyone's experiences were with having their jtube removed after their esophagectomy. My surgery was done 7/23. I am suppose to go in Tuesday to have the jtube removed because according to the "plan" I should be able to eat my 1800 calories a day now. It is soooooo hard to eat that much. I find myself constantly looking at the clock, worrying because I only have so many more hours to get ...

                      Esophageal Cancer

I am 32 years old. A single mom of my sweet 7 year old daughter. Diagnosed with what they think right now is stage III esophageal cancer. It is in my lower esophagus and is in several lymph nodes around the mass. The mass is 5cm by 16mm. I am super scared of the future. I need to be here for my daughter. Looking for friends that have survived this. Looking for hope.
