I have been off the board for awhile.....needed a break. My husbands BX showed inflammatory cells only - not cancer but I dont believe it as his labs say something else. He will have another Pet/CT the first week of Dec. The good news is that he is starting to eat!!!!! We have not used the gtube in 2 weeks. He has had swallow therapy and was afraid to start eating. I told him one day that I would not use the tube aga...

Seems like most kidney cancers are found incidentely. My husbands was originally seen on a CT 7 years ago - we were not told - he was in the hospital for another issue. Last November 2017 he had another CT of abdomen again for something else and the kidney mass was 5.5cm. His R kidney was removed. He stayed 1 night in the hospital and they did not do it robotically. He has done fine with the one kideny - it is the re...

Has anyone had experience with an Oncologist handing out 3 pamphlets with different types of chemotherapy treatment and asking the patient to read the info and choose the therapy that seems most appealing?

i am sure you have read some caregivers posts and have realized what a difficult role it is. We wear many different hats during this process sometimes almost too much to bear. Even knowing that it helps for just a few minutes before we are thrown back into the role. We all feel your pain, loss and frustration. I know you have heard that you need to take care of yourself but that is easier said than done. I have been ...

Does anyone have experience with a lung biopsy that missed the cancer?  My husband just finished treatment for base of tongue cancer. Pet scan prior to treatment showed a nodule in R lung. Pet scan after treatment showed nodule now a mass. Biopsy showed inflammation only. Dr is still suspicious and will repeat Pet scan in Dec. His WBC is 2.4 and ferritin levels over 1000, that has to mean something. ...

What a wonderful support site this is. I appreciate all responses to my husbands very complex issues. There are so many Drs. involved and additionally the remaining kidney is not functioning well so treatment choices are limited. Thank you for the support

My husband had a kidney removed in 11/17. a few months later he was diagnosed with inoperable stage 4 base of tongue cancer with mets to nodes with suspicious nodes in lungs. He had chemo and radiation which treated but did not cure. He was never told that he would be cured. Pet scan post treatment showed lung nodes are now masses. He will go for a biopsy next week with results the following week. I go with him to al...

WOW! That is about all I can say! I made the same remark to my husband, about happening to me as opposed to him....he said I wish it were you too! During his stay in Denver won't he be in the hospital? Can the hospital direct to a board and care type place for you? I know some hospitals help out that way for out of towners. We are still waiting for the lung biopsy to be done. My daughters husband just left her aft...

Sally, I am sorry you are having to deal cancer. You are very young so that is a big plus on your side. Attitude is everything right now. It makes the ordeal of chemo a little easier. You may not have the energy but you have the joy of a toddler and it does not get much better than that. I too worked after my mastectomy and during radiation. It was tough, but it gave  my brain a little escape. Bless you

I hope you have some answers to your questions by now. I am very familiar with several different cancers, unfortunately. The one thing they all have in common is no straight answer from anyone. Having a cancer diagnosis is scary enough without keeping us guessing. I truly believe there is no easy answer. Too many different responses via different treaments to the same diagnosis. Think the docs are just guessing have ...
