That is so great for your husband!!!  My mom is currently going through Stage 3.  The chemo and radiation side effects have been pretty tough for her.  The good news is the 6cm tumor inside her esophagus is gone! Too soon for CT scan but inflammation on outer layer is going down so hopefully that means the cancer is too. It's so nice to hear these stories and congratulations to you and your husband!

Cyndi- I'm so very sorry to hear what you and your husband are going through.  I use to work for hospice a long time ago (in my early 20's) as a HHA going into the client's homes.  Have you looked into having them come to your home?  I had extreme compassion for the people I cared for but you will always find those that seem to lack it which is not something to be expected in a profession like that.&nb...

steveb50, so radiation and chemo can work on lymph nodes?  I talked with my mom's nurse today and she said the CT Scan showed no enlarged lymph nodes in that area of where mass was.  (Originally there were 2 nearby ones infected) Outer mass still has alot of inflammation and edema due to radiation so she said it's still too early to tell. Something else I was wondering about is if morphine along with an an...

My mom has 5 grandchildren and whenever they come up, she just watches them and smiles.  She is a very wonderful grandma and loves them with all her heart.  I agree with you, children make people smile! That nurse was very smart and obviously truly cares about her patients! Kim

I agree, go spend time with your grandson! :) Like Punky said, even if it is what we hope it isn't, 2 weeks isn't going to make matters worse.  Kim

Yes, I totally agree with the negativity and positive attitude.  I have kept all things negative away from my mom and my family feels the same way. I try to keep everything positive and tell her we will handle all that comes one thing at a time.  When she got the news the cancer inside of her esophagus was gone I was so happy and told her "see you did it!!  I know this is hard but it pai...

Clarence, Thank you so much for your encouragement. I have heard some people say it's a roller coaster ride of emotions and that is so true!  I am so glad I found this discussion board. Everyone is so caring and very knowledgeable.

No, it's definately not too late!!  I like getting all the info I can.  Congratulations on your 6 year anniversary!!  It's stories like yours that are very encouraging!  I'm hearing Cisplatin is a very aggressive chemo treatment.  Did you have alot of side effects?  I know this last treatment made my mom very weak, nauseus and low blood counts.
