Hello!

My husband Len received his 9th infusion last week, he has shown improvement (tumors up to 1/3 smaller on some scans), the latest scan the tumors all remained approx the same size (measured in millimeters and no growth..so still a positive). He has gained back almost all of the weight he lost while on sutent and afinitor and currently has less cancer than he did at this time last year!

After two cycles of sutent (mixed results) and three months on afinitor (tumor growth, high blood sugar, weight loss) my husband had his first infusion of this drug on Sept. 2nd. Since then he has gained back 40+lbs, blood levels have all returned to normal and last ct scan showed shrinkage in tumors in both his lungs and liver. A few are no longer visible.

Hello Cancerbeater..

My husband has had the opposite results, he was on sutent for two cycles and his most recent CT scan showed up to 50% shrinkage in the mets in his liver, however the ones in his spine have grown and three new ones have shown up in his left lung.

He is currently in his second week on afinitor..we are praying that it will have a positve affect on all his mets. He seems to have less side effects to date, which is great!

All the best to you!

Actually when we had posted the original message we had heard the ct results from our family doctor and were waiting to see the Onocologist the next day. Our Onocolgist advised that my husband stop sutent and try afinitor due to the mixed results but also because she thought my husband was having an adverse reaction to the sutent (terrible side effects plus he required a blood transfusion after each of the two cycles he was on it)

My husband Len is just beginning his third round of sutent, just received the results of his most recent ct scan and had mixed results..the numerous tumors in his liver have all shrunk some up to 50%, however one tiny met in his left lung (5mm) has grown to 9 mm and an second one has shown up (4mm). Would appreciate hearing from others who have also experienced mixed results. Is another treatment available for lung mets? We are very happy with the results on his liver and focusing on the positive.
