Thank you Nina for your words...I never felt like I've been selfish but also never thought of it in this perspective.  I know it's been a while since I posted but here's what the latest is with my mom: We admitted her on the 8th for the psychosis...they continued to drop her steroids little by little and eventually we made the decision to have a shunt put in to alleviate some of the pressure as she had a lot of...

I'm so sorry for your loss. My mom was just diagnosed last month so this has gone much faster than we expected. She's lived a very healthy life and this completely came out of left field. It was diagnosed as terminal from the get go because of the size and location they deemed it inoperable. She's been on steroids from the beginning and so I'm not sure if it is the steroids and it took a month for the side effect to ...

Thanks Sally! Can I ask how long your husbands battle was? I'm very sorry for your loss and that you had to go through the psychosis. It's so hard to watch. She keeps going in to the fact that she's having a divine intervention, looking at her hands, thinking she's the Virgin Mary, she's afraid to sleep. If this is the end I can handle that but I just wish it was on better terms. Thank you again for your words.

She was admitted last night to the neuro unit. Because its psychosis due to medical treatment they sent her there so they could monitor the tumor primarily but they have a psychiatrist involved in her care also. They upped her adivan a little last night and after consulting with the psychiatrist they added Zyprexa to the mix. We're hoping it is the steroids and once those get out of her system things will get better ...

No we didn't cut it without doctors orders. We're at the ER now admitting her. We were left with no choice.

Yes she is also on Keppra. We're debating at this point to hospitalize her until we're able to ween down the dex for sure. Like I said, dad and I can only handle so much of the craziness before we're all going to end up in a rubber room. I'll look up the interaction of the two but she's on such a concoction of medications that its hard to say which is the culprit. She just started the Temodar last week also. We knew ...

I posted a couple days ago about my mom and the paranoia she's had and wondering if it was a side effect anyone else has experienced. She was diagnosed with Level 4, GBM on 2/15/13 and it's inoperable and we started radiation/chemo last week.  In the last 48 hours it has gotten a lot worse and my dad and I aren't sure what to do anymore.  Yesterday/last night it was really bad to the point that she was havi...

I'm new to all of this and feeling a bit overwhelmed at times but I've used forums in the past and they've been helpful so here goes.  My mom was diagnosed with level 4 GBM three weeks ago.  We started radiation and chemo (Temodar) last week and that's our plan of attack for a total of six weeks and then she'll have a month off and then we'll switch to the 5/23 plan for a few months from the sounds of it. ...
