Hi maudsie The abdominal tumours were only discovered recently, the stage 4 b was determined after the liver resection I had 3 months after the gallbladder was removed, which is almost 2 years ago now. The surgery to remove what is left of the abdominal tumour they just removed, is a bit like bolting the stable door after the horse has bolted, but I hope it may prove to be the right course of action. Cheers...

Hi maudsie The 4b staging means the lymphnodes were positive for disease at the furtherest distance they could test, and so considered my disease systemic The tumours in my abdominal wall were removed several weeks ago, but they didn't get clear margins on one tumour, which is very distressing, and now they have given me a surgery date to remove the rest of the 16 the December, I think they feel I'm doomed anyw...

Very encouraging to hear a goodness story, thankyou Diamuid for sharing your experience. I was diagnosed after accidental discovery following gallbladder removal, in January 2013, liver resection in April 2013 and cancer found in. 2 lymphnodes so staged 4b at that point, I was initially too ill after the resection to undergo chemotherapy and by the time I was well enough the supposed window of opportunity had passed...

Hi carolyne, Nice to hear you are doing so well, I'm still feeling well, as I said before, once I had the surgery and the cancer was found to have spread I made the decision to not do chemotherapy and just opt for quality of life, I have enjoyed every day since, and still feel fine. My blood tests are slightly worse than before indicating some tumour growth, but still no symptoms, so every day is a blessing and a p...

Well differentiated cells are better than poorly differentiated ones apparently, so it may well be it is in very early stage which will be obviously much better news for her, I would start appointments as soon as possible. best of luck

I only knew her from this site, she lived in New Zealand, and was one of the few people I was able to talk with about GBC it's quite a rare cancer, and there certainly isn't a big support group. Cheers Lucy

Hi all, just passing on the very sad news that Libby lost her battle with GBC recently. I'm very sad, she really fought so hard, she was such a beautiful person and way too young. She inspired me to keep a positive attitude and I intend to continue following her example

Oh best of luck jimmy, thankyou for letting me know what your experience has been, I guess we are all different, I haven't done chemo at all, I had a liver resection in April but the lymph nodes showed spread and the oncologist has staged it as stage 4b, they offer palliative chemo only. I'm just cruising along and get blood tests every month, I'll consider chemo maybe sometime in the future. I don't know whether ...
