My apologies for not replying sooner. I am sorry to hear about you sister and of course your current situation. Choosing chemo was not an easy one especially since I was diagnosed very early but after talking with a few Drs it really was the best option for me. The original Dr suggested four rounds but a specialist at one of the big centers strongly suggested six so that is what I am prepared for. It's going to b...

Late last year a routine mammogram discovered a 8 mm mass in my left breast. From all accounts I was very fortunate - small tumor caught early. Earlier this month I had a lumpectomy and it was a breeze. Surgeon called to let me know that no cancer was found in the lymph nodes so naturally I was over the moon. Today I met with the oncologist expecting to start radiation in a few days only to be told that while my ...

A little over two years ago my exhusband and best friend was diagnosed with PC.  A month or two later a client walked in my door and I could tell immediately from his appearance that this man was also battling something and it turned out it was also PC.  This man was told by every doctor he saw on the West Coast to get his affairs in order - his cancer was too far advanced for any surgical options but his w...

I just learned that my ex husband (and best friend) is now considered terminal and we are as expected devastated to hear the news.  He suffered a set back after the whipple on Sept 5th and the cancer took advantage and is now in his liver.  The Dr says chemo is not an option because it may kill him but I am reaching out to get your thoughts on the matter because quite frankly I am just lost.  If he is ...

I have been reading about this amazing young man and what this could mean to so many.  It may have come too late to diagnose my loved one early enough but just the thought that so many may be saved the agony our families have experienced brings tears to my eyes and joy to my heart!  He apparently sent out 200 request lab help and 197 sent him rejections - thankfully Dr. Maitra was not one of ...

The hospital discharged him on Thursday and sent him to a really nice facility (this time) in Thousand Oaks.  I had to go to the grocery store twice to accomodate his special requests for fruit yesterday.  In the morning it was melons and in the afternoon the cravings switched to peaches, nectarines & grapes.  I had to force feed him 5 bites of his actual lunch but he claimed that he actually felt ...

I will ask his youngest daughter to ask if he is being given something to control the acid - I would have thought that would have been a given but should know by now not to assume anything. I will be visiting this evening and will ask his nurse as well. In regards to the testing they did quite a few to determine what was causing the bleeding and then endoscope the other day.

Thanks so much everyone for everything. At the hospital now and read him a few replies and he is just amazed that people care enough to leave comments and words of encouragement.

Just a quick update.  He is now being given something for the nausea and ate a small breakfast and just finished part of a fruit plate for lunch.  The fruit plate is significant since that is all he has talked about (food wise) since before the surgery.  Progress!
