CTs are considered baseline tests and are fine if your bloodwork is staying the same, but MRIs pick up smaller tumors and are appropriate if your bloodwork is climbing.

MRIs pick up things CT scans do not.  I also have a combination of CEA and CGA (chromogranin A) blood tests.

Watch EXTREMELY carefully.  I had BIG elevated numbers in October 2017 and a CT, which showed nothing.  I had some bloodwork (CGA) in May 2018, showing high elevation but I did not have the CT at that time. Life got in the way and I did not get the CT in 2018.... In March 2018 I had a moderate vaginal mass that was next to the bladder and rectum but too big to remove without problems.  I have a c...

Hello!  I changed my lifestyle reducing stress and care a great deal about my body but here I am.  I was stage IV and it had spread into my abdominal cavity so HIPEC was life saving.  I would suggest a specialist for you.

CancerCompass was a lifeline to me when I was first diagnosed and the ability to reach out and hear other folks' stories was so important. I see you had your diagnosis in November.  (Mine in December 2009.)What treatment did you go with?

I am still here -- and NED.  Do NOT go with a regular oncologist.  I've seen too many people die who did not get the proper treatment.  YOU DEFINITELY need a referral to a specialist who can treat you for this very rare cancer! I had the HIPEC.... and went through a lot..... but that story began in 2009..... Here I am. Look for the FB group regarding PMP and the one for Goblet Cell Carcinoid. El...

                      About mercedes6408

                      Patient
                      Breast Cancer, Other Cancer
Cancer Diagnosis, Cancer Treatments, Chemotherapy, Clinical Trials and Research, Conventional Treatments, Genetics, Local Hyperthermia

In 2006 I was diagnosed with Stage I and II breast cancer. I had a left mastectomy, chemo, and returned to work in 2007. In November 2009 I was diagnosed with Stage IV Appendix cancer (goblet cell carcinoid). I have had surgery for removal of appendix, right hemicolectomy, uterus, ovaries, omentum. I had HIPEC in March. I began 5FU but almost immediately had an allergic reaction in the form of cardiomyopathy and couldn't pursue that treatment. I have been on Irinotecan and Panatumumab since April and have just finished that round of treatment but my CgA has been going up the last couple of months and is now at 176 (where it was when I started chemo). It was at 2003 before HIPEC and chemo. It has now gone down some but it is yet elevated. CT and PET scans are clean.
