My husband passed away on Monday November 17th.  He was diagnosed with grade 3 astrocytoma in Jan 2011.  He most likely had the tumor for at least 4 years prior to diagnosis.  I guess we can say that he survived brain cancer for 8 years. His only symptom at the time of diagnosis was a focal seizure but the tumor was diffuse. We did have 4 good years.  We travelled to Europe for 2 summers and to ma...

My husband was put on Zonegran for focal seizures since he had 3 small seizures while on Vimpat.  I cannot tell if he agitation and agreesiveness are due to the decadron which is being tapered or or the Zonegran.  Anyone on it and can tell me if they tolerate it?

My husband is on 16 mg of decadron and exhibiting aggression and major mood swings.  I was told to give him the decadron in the afternoon so it doesn't affect his sleep but giving it to him at 3 pm has still caused him to be up all night. Any suggestions on how to diminsh the side effects?

I am so sorry to hear that your son has passed. I have followed your posts and know how much you have helped him. We are coming to the point where further treatment is futile and I dread the day I have to take care of my husband's belongings. Like Dodger has said, I find hope in your words. I find comfort in your post and think that is what I should do also - look for hope in the future.

I noticed some symptoms of Parkinson's in my husband a year and half after his whole brain radiation.  The NO told me he had only seen Parkinson's and Astrocytoma in one patient and they weren't sure if the patient would have developed Parkinson's eventually and not related to the radiation.  I am starting to think that maybe there is a connection. My husband now has dementia which slowly developed after a ...

I am very sorry, Jon, to hear that your wife passed away. Nothing any of us say will ease your heart but we are all with you and feel the pain because we will all experience it one day. My husband has been battling his AA3 for the past 3-1/2 years and he is slowly declining both physically and mentally. I pray you have strength in the days ahead.

Jon, I joined this site 2 months before you and always looked for your posts because they were well researched. You knew all the latest treatments and passed that information on to everyone. It is especially sad that someone like you who did everything you could has to see this terrible disease take someone so dear to you. We are now battling a recurrence but worst than that is the fact that my husband's cognitive ab...

He seems to have tolerated the first dose well but don't know what will happen when he has more.  His red blood count dropped a little but nothing to be concerned about. Will see how he does on the next dose.

My husband was put on CCNU 6 weeks ago.  I am also trying to find information about the drug. He has aphasia from a grand mal seizure he had in Dec 2013. His MRI's were stable until April, 2014.  He did 2 rounds of temodar but no improvement clinically. Then started on CCNU.  If you get any further information about CCNU, please share it.

I don't think you are rambling.  You are giving very insightful thoughts that I think most of us can relate to. When someone cuts me off on the road or tailgates me to make me go faster, I now think that maybe they are having a difficult day also. I give people the benefit of the doubt these days. I see no reason to get angry. You never know the moment you life will change so enjoy every minute of it and don't w...
