I'll have more tests and scans in 6 months, but I was told I am not a candidate at this time for any other treatments. I have a feeling my cancer does produce Tg, because my levels pre-surgery were 397ng/mL. If anything is off in 6 months, I'll push for more. Right now, I guess I should just enjoy the break, although when people ask if I'm in remission, I don't really know how to honestly respond.

That's pretty much all that she told me. They will be testing Tg levels in 6 months and stated that they will be monitoring that, so I'm assuming they believe it's still producing Tg.

Here’s a link to the image I pulled from the CT scan they did prior to surgery. https://m.imgur.com/JoCMTVh

They think it’s not avid bc half of the lymph nodes they took, which included central compartment and left cervical nodes, were metastatic, and in the side of my neck it has spread into the skeletal muscle. However, there was NO uptake at all in that area. Highly unlikely every cancer cell was removed. There was only some uptake in the thyroid bed.

I tested negative for antibodies. And it was 1cm 5 years ago. Let’s just say that it grew quite a bit before I had my surgery earlier this year.

I spoke to one of my doctors, and they confirmed that they do suspect my cancer is not RAI avid, but to keep in mind that my Tg was low and my surgery very thorough and performed by an experienced surgeon. However, they are going to have to monitor me more closely and maintain me on extreme TSH suppression. Right now I’m at 2.5mcg/kg. And the post-scan showed the pattern of uptake was unchanged from the initial scan...

Can they test with no known mets? Nothing other than the left cervical lymph node and thyroid when I had my CT in April prior to my surgery.

They performed a post-scan, as well, that I'll probably have the results of by tomorrow.  I was given 33mCi after that appointment.  According to the radiologist report, the whole body scan taken prior being given the 33mCi showed uptake at 0.1%. Endo did say that, as a result of the scan not showing much uptake, they were giving me only 33mCi instead of the 150 they had originally planned for. At the ti...

Had total thyroidectomy & left neck dissection in April after being diagnosed with follicular variant papilllary thyroid carcinoma--T3bN1b. I got low dose RAI last week. I'm 32.  My endo didn't explain this to me, but here is what is in my appointment notes on the patient portal: "...only mild uptake on scan, likely activity seen is thyroid remnant therefore will ablate that lesion with 30mci to be able to ...
