I thought I'd drop in and give an update.  My surgery was on Sept 18, and I had one huge lymph node removed.  It was the same as the rest, but this tumor resisted chemo and grew bigger instead.  The pathology from it came back with unclear margins, so there's still something going on.  I still have lots of swelling above the incision up into my jaw, and my left ear is numb, probably permanent. &nb...

Thanks for your response.  I finished my chemo 2 months ago, and had a good response, except for that one area.  I had surgery to have the growing tumor removed, and it shows the same pathology as the rest, but somehow it made itself resistant to my chemo.  My cancer, however is not all gone, and the latest lymph node removed had unclear margins.  My onc wants a pet scan, but we are trying to get ...

Good to hear from you, Shelley.  Wow, I read your story, and you have had quite a time with cancer!  I am so glad you are feeling well.  I finished my 6 rounds of chemo 2 1/2 weeks ago.  Fatique is the only lasting effect now.  I have one area in my neck which has continued to grow instead of shrinking like everything else.  I will be having surgery next week to see what is going on with...

I have advanced cancer of unknown primary throughout the lymph nodes in my left neck and axillary.  I have had 4 out of 6 chemo treatments of carbo/taxol.  My latest CT scan showed that my cancer has had a significant response and is near resolution, except for one problem. I have one visible node on the left side of my neck that is growing, apparently unresponsive to my chemo, while all of the others are s...

Perhaps it's cancer of unknown primary.  That's what I have.  Mine presented in my neck and axillary areas in the lymph nodes.  The pathology from my biopsy said that the cancer cells were poorly differentiated, meaning that they were mutated in such a way that they didn't gives a clue as to where they came from.  The cancer I have is all secondary or metastatic.  CT scans, PET scans and gene...

Sorry for your leg pain.  I have it, too.  My chemo is dose dense carbo/taxol every 3 weeks.  Also, a neulasta shot 24 hours later.  Both the taxol and neulasta cause indescribable leg pain for me for about 4 days.  My oncologist has prescribed vicodin and it did nothing for the pain.  Recently he prescribed hydromorphone, which is an opoid, and it still doesn't help.  He said somet...

Hi, townie.  My CT scan taken last week says this, and I quote, "There has been significant response with near complete resolution of metastatic carcinoma".  My onc says there is actually a chance I may go into remission, which hasn't even been considered a possibility until now.  I wasn't tested until after my 3rd treatment.  I still have 3 to go.  My onc says I'll have another scan 2 m...

My chemo treatment is commonly called carbo/Taxol. I also take a steroid called dexamethazone the night before, which can prevent a good night's sleep, but doesn't bother me.  There are also several pre chemo drugs on chemo day.  2 different anti-nausea drugs, more steroids, an antacid, and benadryl.  My infusion starts around 10 a.m. and last until 5 p.m.  So far, I have had 3 chemo infusions. &...

Hi, cybercat.  I just found that you had responded because it went into my junk mail folder.  I am sorry to hear about your husband.  I'd be happy to chat with you.  We can keep each other company through this journey if you like.  For me, chemo was chosen as a 1st treatment, perhaps because I had a much larger involvement of my lymphnodes, neck and axillary.   I am 1/2 way through my c...

Hello, I am a 57 year old female with no family history of cancer, otherwise healthy. I found swelling in the left side of my neck and under my armpit in early March of this year. I had an ultrasound, which identifified some suspicious activity.  Followed by a chest Xray, and diagnostic mammo which showed nothing. I had surgery on April 8, and 9 lymph nodes were removed from the side of my neck. Pathology on tho...
