No new advice but just wanted to mention that my brother is 6 months out of whipple and still suffers from chronic diarrheae. more recently, he has had some success with Imodium. He is also managing smaller meals which seems to help also. good luck with your fathers situation. As others have said,  diarrheae and vomiting together is abnormal. Keep poking at the doctors.

Quick update - he consulted his  oncologist today. Based on the fact that all his symptoms started after the first chemo was administered, the fact that he had virtually no symptoms till that chemo session, that he is doing much better and eating for the last 2-3 days, and his bilrubin is back to 1.8 (from 4 on Sunday) the oncologist is not convinced that his cancer has returned. He's been told to discontinue c...

Thanks Treasure - We are firm believers in the prayer. Sounds like you followed standard protocol for post-whipple chemo. Were you receptive to the gemiicidibine prior to the surgery? In his case, we knew that folfirinox most its effectiveness by the time he got to the surgery. Any other tips - eating habits, lifestyle changes that may have helped?

Thanks Swagme! I am focused on next steps as this setback sinks in. And we believe strongly in the power of prayer. Do you think there are any specific stem cell and/or other therapies that we must look into? How does one decide which one is helpful?

I've shared some of the details with the stalwarts on this forum regarding my brothers PC. Concisely, he was diagnosed about 8 months ago with stage 3 advanced, non-resectable PC. Too early at 38. Went through 6 rounds of folfirinox followed by a whipple last Nov where they took out the tumor, cyst, pancreas, spleen, gall bladder, duodenum, and part of the stomach successfully. The histology report showed that 90% of...

Agree with Baloo. While age is a concern, it's at least worth a 2nd opinion. In my brother's case, we learnt from this forum, kept digital copies of all reports and scans, and phone-consulted with two leading cancer centers. Then chose to travel to one for in-person consultation and testing. He was originally not eligible for surgery. Thankfully the Stage-3 advanced localized tumor responded to chemo and he got a whi...

Phase 1b and a sample size of 4. Nevertheless, something to keep an eye on I suppose. Can't thank you enough for your contribution in bringing the latest in research to this forum.

Hi folks - Following up after a couple of turbulent months for the family. My brother had his last chemo 3 weeks ago and traveled to Houston to consult with the surgeon. His tummor shrunk quite a bit to a point that surgery is a possibility. The cyst on top of the tumor did not change size at all and is sitting anterior to the pancreas - 4.4 x 3.84 cm. It may cause issues when they open him up... The trouble is...

+1  I encourage all the learned folks to respond. Please remember that people starting out on this journey have very few other learning resources from real-world cases (excuse my verbiage) Your participation is vital to keeping everyone lifted in their personal fight with a common enemy. Best

Thx Impa (keepin it short) Best wishes for your mom. Please keep us posted. Did her CT show any interference with the vessels? Interested to know how they determined her candidacy for whipple. It sounds like it wasnt a straight forward decision.
