I have been diagnosed with stage 3 non small cell lung cancer, and am currently on an oral chemo , Tarceva, which is being used off label for me. Does anyone have experience with this?
I was able to rouse my husband long enough to talk about his condition and options. He has decided not to pursue further treatment.I ended up calling the oncologist's office to determine the purpose of the visit, and, oddly enough, she was on call. I reviewed what was occurring with my husband and told her that, though I'm no medical professional, I feel like he's actively dying. She concurred, and said that she just wanted to tell us face to face that she felt hospice was the next best option for Tom. She will arrange a referral tomorrow morning.thank you, God, for allowing these decisions to be made for me. And thank you all for your kind support. God bless and good luck to you all.."..
My husband also has carcinoid cancer. He was diagnosed 2 weeks after we moved to Charlotte, NC at stage 4 with mets to the liver and bone. Apparently, docs in FL and PA all failed to recognize this terrible disease. That was a year and a half ago. He has been receiving Sandostatin and Xteva shots monthly. We've had some ups and downs during this time, but he always snapped back and was doing okay. Until this week, when he stopped eating, drinking. His hands, legs and feet are grossly swollen. He is sleeping constantly, and it's getting harder and harder to rouse him. I feel like he's actively dying. We have an 8 am appointment tomorrow morning to meet with his oncologist, and I'm wondering what I should do. Should I stop torturing him and just get a referral to Hospice?
My husband also has neuron doctrine cancer, but stage 4, with liver and bone metastasis. I have never heard of Sutent. He has been receiving Ssandastatin injections monthly.
