My own experience in Australia has been to have NO support. Which seems to be the exception.  Here, on these pages I have been able to get personal views and expierences which Doctors and nurses unaffected by Cancer cannot possibly give confidently. I like that I can confidentley give my experiences without being told I am imagining things.  I can be myself and share how I feel knowing I am not alone.

Each and every one of us has to be responsible for our own wellbeing.  We should listen to what is advised BUT we  know our own body best and I know I did not want to live ten years on this drug feeling as if life was not worth living.  I tried it for almost 2 years and hated how I felt.  I now am drug free and enjoying life to the fullest. However long or short my life might be I am making the mo...

I had breast surgery, chemo and then six weeks of radiotherapy.  I was prescribed Arimidex and took it for almost a year before I has a three month rest from it.  Within a month of starting it again I was suffering all the same side effects. Lethergy, muscle pain, bone pain so bad I could no longer play with ny Grandchild. My fingers were so numb I coud no longer do any craft work at all.  After some s...

So glad you are starting to feel like yourself again.  Not every decision is the right one for everyone but so long as each of us are happy with our own decision and appreciate the possible consequences that is the main thing in this 'survival' journey. We are all different.  I do wish you well with your 'new normal' life.  Mine is fantastic again.

Yes, these might be common symptoms but when it changes your life beyond recognition it was time for ME to stop.  I don't eat processed foods.  I know my body and I feel GREAT now and am glad I made MY decision to stop taking the meds.  I now know I can live out the rest of my life in MY way - however long that might be. MY decision is in no way the correct one for everyone, it was for me. Thanks for...

Diagnosed DEC 2014 followed by breast conserving surgery followed in 2015 by chemo therapy and radiotherapy.  At the end of this I was put onto Arimidex.  Oh boy, did I cop all of the side effects. By November 2016, after taking Arimidex for almost a year I was told by my surgeon I could have a beak of two months to see if the side effects lessened. I had a two month break and then I took Arimidex for anoth...

Update since stopping Arimidex 23rd September 2017. The only side effect of taking Arimidex that I still have is dizziness. Unfortunately this caused a fall 13th October resulting in a bad concussion, 9 fractured ribs and Vertigo. I had 6 nights in hospital, in a lot of pain. Thankfully, after 3 sessions with a festibular physiotherapist the vertigo has been resolved but I do still have dizziness. I am hopeful the ...

Thanks for your input.  I too had breast conservation surgery followed by nine months of Chemo and six weeks (daily) radiotherapy and survived these with only the expected side effects and a very large blood clot and a couple of blood transfusions needed.  I was not expecting the complete change to my life AFTER all of this.  For me, Arimidex is not the answer.  Nobody can say for sure if my cance...

I, for one, do understand what you felt like on Arimidex.  I took it for 2 years but stopped just three weeks ago.  It was a decision I made for myself so if the canser should come back everyone knows it was MY decision to stop and get my life back to some sort of 'normal' without the daily reminder of cancer.  The numbness in my fingers is almost gone and I can now do my craft work again, which is so ...
