I've posted many lengthy messages here over the years. More often than not, the really important info gets deleted before I can press send. It's been over 9 years for me nothing really has gotten better. As soon as I get a new computer I'll share my experiences that should benefit those having ongoing problems with ear to ear titanium mandibles (and how best to deal with the implants coming thru your face (each side)...

For a few pain free hours twice a day, swish around a bit of 2% viscous lidocaine. It's prescription only but cheap. Does not promote healing, but it helps me fall asleep. Swallowing residual lidocaine is no problem and the only way you can get some down your throat for complete relief. It's not addictive and always affective. For really bad ulcers, I will sometimes dab 4% liquid lidocaine on. Best not to swallow. U...

A few years ago, I thought I was finally getting some saliva back. I still had no taste, but in my throat I had thick liquid that was somewhat sweet (or so I imagined). Because  years of dry mouth caused many problems, I welcomed the sweet moisture in my mouth. I take in only Ensure and smoothies - this adds up to well over 100 ozs. per day. I was starting to have aspiration problems and naturally began to worry...

Nine years ago there were many promising breakthroughs. Most of those seem to still be just that - promising. However some, like the following, would be simple to implement in short order. * * * * * * * In the last three years, researchers have shown that diabetic patients with head and neck cancer, may have better outcomes than no...

Jason. Google the words "financial help for cancer patients". There's are all kinds of worthwhile resources worth looking into.

Jason, there are ways to get financial help during this difficult time. If you have $$$ going toward social security, you may be eligible for disability (SSD). If so, SS is required to process your claim in less than 30 days. If you're a veteran you may be entitled to disability thru the VA. I was self employed for over 30 years and was unable to return to work. You should get more good suggestions here, but you shou...

Had max cisplatin and IMRT radiation 8+ yrs ago for HNC and almost every serious side effect since then. Of the numerous possible facial pain possibilities, trigeminal neuralgia ( AKA suicide disease) is the worst. A steroidal nerve block did the trick for me almost 3 years ago. Since then radiation induced Osteoradionecrosis necessitated ear to ear mandibular replacement with one complete titanium prosthesis. Severe...

Hi Susan. It's for anyone suffering the usual effects of cancer treatment, no specific cancer nor any specific time. Supposedly helps when you feel like crap.

After Wanda Cwiecek began treatment for multiple myeloma, a cancer of the blood, she had trouble sleeping and felt emotionally drained. She would get home from work so tired she immediately needed to lie down. Ms. Cwiecek, who received chemotherapy in 2014 and a stem-cell transplant for her cancer, last year took part in one of a series of randomized clinical trials at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai t...

I have posted a few times regarding the relief available from the use of lidocaine. I learned recently that using the 4% topical and 5% ointment really needs to be carefully supervised by a Doctor. Amount and how used can be problematic if instructions are not followed. Lidocaine does interact negatively with 100's of commonly prescribed meds.
