One thing you learn about GBM is that there are so many variations in terms of how and when symptoms began, treatments people had, factors like age and gender. There is no patter. There is no one treatment although there sort of is a standard of care. But quite a few have followed their own path. Check out pubs by Ben Williams and look at Virtual Trials the one stop shop for all things GBM. BTW I was diagnosed an...

I am posting again about personality changes because I want to make a point about causes. First, the tumor affects the brain depending on where it is. These changes unfortunately are likely permanent because of damage tumor and treatments cause. There may be changes caused by meds like steroids that go away when the Med is stopped although there may be residual changes that stay. I was pretty hyper on steroids and th...

It has been a while since I posted. Wanted to point again to Virtual Trials site which has wealth of resources.  One worth checking is an online support group under Resources - Brain Tumor Treatments Group. Al Musella runs this and is one of the most knowledgable people in the field. The focus is on what is current and what is coming. Sign up for the newsletter too.

Check Virtual Trials website and book by Ben Williams. The website has a lot of resources. If you have not already done so ask about Optune. I was treated for GBM in 1999.

The good news is there are many options. The bad news is there are many options. I am an eighteen year survivor who went mostly standard of care with surgery, radiation and chemo. I also had Gliadel on second surgery and no recurrence after. I have followed closely what is available. I always commend Virtual Trials website as best resource. I would check out what Ben Williams, a long term GBM survivor has writte...

The hard part about brain tumors, especially GBM, isthat different things work for different people.  I am sorry for your loss but there is hope, but not everyone becomes a long term survivor. More than ever but not nearly enough do.

I am a survivor of GBM (Glioblastoma Multiforme). I was diagnosed and treated in 1999 with surgery, radiation and chemo. Had recurrence in 2001 and treated with surgery and Gliadel wafers. Third surgery in 2002 showed not recurrence, just scar tissue and necrosis. Have had about a dozen seizures over 13 years. Quality of life is very good with essentially no deficits. I remain tumor free.
