It seems as if my last post was reaching out for someone to tell me what I could to the help Kirby more with whatever step he was in with this crummy disease! July 5th they took him off Avastin due to strokes, September 1st they took him off Temodar due to tumor growth, just yesterday I was having a hospital bed delivered from Hospice, and now today I have to consider a catheter! What the hell is really happening wi...

I was just wondering if anyone has taken Accutane? It has been recommendd by MD Anderson that since Avastin has caused Kirby to have many strokes, and the recurrent tumor along with the strokes is surrounded by too many blood vessels to take any risk of operating or implanting the virus, so our option was to continue Temodar daily 140mg and add Accutane to see what happens. I know they are a research center and they ...

We are in our 4th month of Avastin infusions which this past month has moved from every 2 weeks at 10 mg to every 3 weeks at 7.5mg due to sudden left side weakness which turned out to be mini strokes from the Avastin cutting off blood supply to Kirby's good blood vessels, but yet it is working for the blood vessels that were feeding the tumor and right now the tumor like in sleep mode cuz it is not getting blood to i...

This weekend our oncolgist released Kirby from the hospital on Thursday due to his left side was so weak he couldn't move he would just drag his leg around as well as his left arm wouldn't move as well, he couldn't put his thumb and point finger together at all, and this happened right after stepping out of the shower. God must have been watching over him that&n...

To everyone at CC, I don't post often, and if I do it is usually private, cuz I ramble on too much, but tonight I was hoping I could ask a favor from all of us who suffer from this GBM whether we are the caregivers or the carriers of this terrible battle. Just a thoughtful prayer for comfort for each and everyone of us as we walk through this disease with broken spirits, and wings of hope. A dear friend on CC, Mari...

My husband Kirby was dx'd with GBM right front temporal lobe 5/10 radiation/temodar, 2nd surgery due to recurrence 10/10, neurological damage minor. Tumor still growing after being on Temodar for 8 months, began Avastin in clinical trial at MD Anderson. Beginning our 3rd cycle which has been 9 treatment, at 2 week intervals with an MRI every 6 weeks. 1st two 6 weeks MRI showed stable. 6/22/11 Kirby began losing mobility in his left arm and leg, after ER evaluation CT Scan showed tumor growth, placed on steriods (been off of them since 2/11,due to no further seizure activity) again 12 mg. per day MRI showed something but here in Wichita, the machine are not as clear as Houston (MD Anderson), our oncolgist recommended going back to Houston for clearer picture of what is really going on. So Monday another drive to Houston to find out what is really going on. We will wait and see if we stay on Avastin or if something is going on. We are hanging tough to conquer this stupid stuff they call GBM. Prayers and thoughts of each person on this site for a cure, or something that extends life with more quality. Thank you all for being here for us. Tammy
