About troychardy

Patient, Survivor

My Name is Troy and i was dx with CMML around mid May 2009. I arrived at Christchurch Public Hospital (New Zealand) on the 19th of October 2009 to the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit for treatment in preparation for Cord Blood Transplantion. Day 1.... Lots of tests to see if your heart and other organs can handle the treatment. A Hickman Catheter (pictured on left) is put in as a route for taking blood samples and the administration of drugs without repeated needle puncture of the vein. Day 2....... Treatment runs for 10 days (Daunorubicin and Cytarabine) then wait for my blood counts to come back up. During this time i will be keeped in isolation to prevent any infection that may arise due to a low neutrophils count below 0.5. I arrived at Christchurch Public Hospital (New Zealand) on the 19th of October 2009 to the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit for treatment in preparation for Cord Blood Transplantion.
