      Thanks Vicki. Has your husband had any problems with his teeth due to no saliva? ORN scares the life out of me but a consultant said the risk is 10%

        Thanks for responding soonermom and glad your husband is recovering well. How is his eating? I have read that some people do really well and others not so well.

          Gary52 thanks for the encouraging post. My tumour has been graded as T1N2M0. I have 2 sessions of cisplatin and 6 weeks of radiation to come. Being honest I just hope to get through and be capable of eating reasonably again. Everyone seems to have different experiences on the treatment so will post mine as they crop up. I have been told to get vaccinated against HPV 16 post treatment as the vaccine will still afford ...

            Thanks very much Susan for your response. Yes my tumours are HPV16 related and I hear that they respond best to radiation treatment. I continue to pray and as a Londoner am hanging on to a comment from Sir Winston Churchill - "When you're going through hell, keep going. " Paul

              Thanksfor the encouragement NJM01. My tumour was HPV16 positive and I will take heart from the fact that these are more treatable. I hope that I can get through the treatment and come out the other side. At the moment I'm trying to take one day at a time but just can't smile any more or concentrate on too much. If I could just lose myself in a book that would be a good start. I'm UK based so am being treated at Guys ...

                I have just been diagnosed with base of tongue cancer and am in a dreadful state of anxiety. I am 53 with 2 grown up children and last year started a new relationship after a long marriage. My new partner is so supportive but the fact that my left lymph node is enlarged leads me to believe that my time is up. Was advised that my lump is about the size of a 20p piece and can not be cut out. It has to be a combination ...
